BP - "SYNAPSE" PROJECT

UX Designer - UI Designer - Logo Designer - Front End Developer

Working in an agile team of six, I took the roles of UX Consultant, UI Designer and Front End Developer to manage and deliver an end to end solution for the client.

Working closely with users and stakeholders we delivered a community driven, visual solution to aid the business to identify and streamline business processes and highlight best business practices across multiple regions globally by visualising their application ecosystem and the connections that individuals make on a daily basis between those applications.

UX CONSULTANT

Working closely with the UX designer, we held interviews and workshops with users and stakeholders to collaborate and define the direction to take the application.

 

Using wireframes to define functionality and mood boards to drive design, we collated our findings to initiate the project.

UI DESIGNER

​For this project, I was allowed to step out of the confines of the branding guidlines and stretch my design muscles to produce something engaging, intuative and something BP had never seen before.

​

After multiple iterations and exploration of design, I chose an organic theme with natural flowing lines and soft circle shapes, after presenting multiple ideas to a panel of end users and stakeholders.

LOGO DESIGN

I designed many logos, each with a meaning and different visual style that represented the product, to present to the team and stakeholders for final sign off.

FRONT END DEVELOPER

Upon signoff of the UI design I began to explore the front end tech stack.

After weighing the pros and cons of multiple solutions, I decided to use HTML, CSS and Javascript with jQuery as a prototype with a plan to implement VueJS wrapped in a NodeJS / ExpressJS application.

I coded the User Experience and User Interface into a cross browser web application with a Node / Express wrapper.

​

Part of my role as a Front End Developer was to oversee the backend API development​, to guide and shape the JSON objects and API endpoints.

​

The Front End Web Application is sourcing data using AJAX from the API and both are hosted on the Microsoft Azure platform.
